ART THERAPY

Does talking about it
not feel like enough?

Art Therapy is a form of psychotherapy. It’s an expressive practice where you can use your unique creativity to improve your emotional, mental, and physical well-being.

Are you looking to try a new kind of therapy? Or maybe you find it hard to express how you are feeling in words? Art Therapy could be a way for you to express yourself, work through subconscious blocks, and see things from a new perspective. Art Therapy is a type of psychotherapy involving creative self expression through various art making materials, such as collage, painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, or photography. Through creating art in a therapeutic relationship, you can identify and express themes that may be affecting your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, relationships, and identity.

Each person is different, and I always take an individualized approaches to address the unique needs of each client. A typical session might look like: checking in verbally, using art materials, and reflecting on your experience. Some clients find it helpful to process verbally during art making, while others prefer to work quietly.  Some clients may not wish to use art materials right away, and this is fine too. Others find that it’s most helpful to use our sessions for traditional talk therapy, but they appreciate arts-based “homework assignments” to use in between sessions.

I also have extensive experience bringing art therapy programming to organizations and companies. Whether you are looking to build an art therapy program from the ground up, or you are looking to restructure a program to make it more effective - I can help. I also offer in-person creative arts workshops in places like retreats, conferences, corporate events, museums, and non-profit organizations.

OF ALL AGES AND ABILITIES.

Adding yoga into our tailor-made session allows for a different way to work toward relaxation, insight, and healing.

I am trained as a yoga instructor (RYT-200), and personally have experienced the benefits of a regular yoga and mediation practice. Yoga, guided mediation, and breathing may help to aide relaxation, decrease anxiety and depression, and promote better sleep. For older adults or people with limited mobility, I offer chair yoga, which can also have calming effects, help reduce body aches and pains, and promote health joints, balance, and flexibility.

An option for working together includes virtual yoga + art therapy sessions, combining movement, creative art expression, and discussion. This kind of combined session is also perfect for in-person retreats, workshops, corporate events, and special programming.
